Clone Photography

What is clone photography?

Basically it is the action of taking pictures of one area but the person or people move around the scene doing different poses and then using Photoshop they merge all of the pictures together making it look like you have clones in the same picture.

Some examples of this are:

Daisuke Takakura

Monodramatic-14

Takakura focuses on nature clone photography this is using a scene outside; whether its a park, outside buildings, streets, etc. He uses this technique of clone photography because he believes its as if the subject is ‘meeting different versions of themselves’ which i find quite interesting, this may be a good idea for a persons emotions. They could portray all of their emotions they feel they give off to describe their personality.

some more of his work:

Monodramatic-10

I find the last image interesting because it could be interpreted at how maybe the person sees all of the people living on each balcony or how he sees a normal street scene. Takakura also uses the technique of using poses far away that you cant really see, i believe this is it make each viewers individual interpretation on what emotion they could be displaying as they are too far from the camera. I also like how he has made the subject pose looking away in most of the positions in the picture.

James Jordan:

Jordan focused on the idea of using rooms for his clone photography images, this is quite interesting since the little boy is doing a different activity in each image and displaying different facial expressions. I would interpret this image as the boy showing what he thinks the room should be used for, in this case for games and toys. He also shows viewers how he achieved the shot and explains the best techniques if you are trying the technique out for the first time. I read the website he included this on and learnt a lot about how to achieve the best clone photograph, this including exposures, tripods and how to produce/ edit the shot into the final product.
